Use of IPL is a great non-invasive solution to improve the appearance of sun damage, hyper-pigmentation and other imperfections in your overall skin tone. Our IPL allows us to rejuvenate your skin, combat acne problems and improve sun damage while giving you great results.
What is an IPL Fotofacial?
A Fotofacial, or “photofacial,” is a procedure in which intense pulses of light are used to penetrate deep into the skin. Through this process collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis constrict, reducing redness, sun damage and age lines. The procedure involves only minimal discomfort, while the redness and swelling that sometimes occur after treatment disappear within hours to a few days. Most benefits of a fotofacial occur gradually in the weeks following treatment.
What Can I Expect During the Procedure?
Before your treatment, we will cleanse your face and lightly cover it with a cool gel. You will be given protective dark glasses to cover your eyes throughout your procedure. Pulses of intense light therapy will be distributed evenly onto the skin. Patients report the sensation being similar to a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Patients also report seeing flashes of bright light during the treatment. Not to worry, each sensation goes away after the quick IPL pulse is distributed. Depending on the area treated, the treatment should only take about 30 minutes to complete.
Afterwards, you’ll be able to return to your normal daily activities. While there is no formal downtime or recovery period, you may experience redness and skin color changes in your treated areas similar to a sunburn. This typically resolves on its own after a few days. You can resume wearing a recommended skincare makeup and product to your face. While you may be able to see some results immediately following your initial treatment, we suggest you schedule three to six treatments about four weeks apart for your best results.
Am I a Good Candidate for an IPL Fotofacial?
If you are looking for a non-invasive treatment to get rid of your brown spots, freckles, sun damage, broken blood vessels, rosacea, spider veins on the face, or improve dull skin the IPL Fotofacial may be right for you. Ideal candidates for this procedure are in general good health with no major skin conditions, no active tanning to the skin or self-tanners and not using Accutane.
